If you've ever been told you have too much fishing gear, point out this guy. William "Bud" Snyder's collection of around 3,000 items - collected over 60 years - was auctioned off last weekend. Some really sweet stuff in this list.

There's been some debate over the state of Monterey's sardine fishery. This week, the Executive Director of the California Wetfish Producers Association published her opinion that the fishery is growing significantly, contrary to Oceana's allegations.
