PODCAST: Ready for Trout!

The general trout season opener is this weekend, and conditions are great in the Eastern Sierra and on the McCloud River, the Pit River, and Hat Creek (to name a few). Bass are biting in many NorCal lakes. Salmon season is underway along the coast - and opens next Wednesday north of Horse Mountain. And of course there's plenty of Delta action goin' on.

Listen in for all the latest reports from the RodMob community and updates from Kenny Priest on Fishing the North Coast and Delta trolling legend Clyde Wands.

BITE UPDATE: Salmon, steelhead, stripers, and more!

Here are some of the highlights of NorCal fishing today.

Lots of salmon limits out of Half Moon Bay and Emeryville for boats including the Hulicat, the New Huck Finnthe Queen of Hearts, and the Outer Limits.

Farther south, private boats found limits off the Soquel Hole.

And the countdown is on to May 1st, when salmon season opens north of Horse Mountain in Humboldt County!

If you're in the East Bay and targeting trout, San Pablo Reservoir is a good bet. Another 1,200 pounds of Mt. Lassen trout went in today, and there's a good shore bite reported off Scow Canyon and Sandy Beach.

You might even be able to get into some crappie action - Cuong L. of Concord caught this 2 lb crappie using a jig while fishing the Boat Launch area yesterday.

The American River is still producing some big, bright steelhead.

We're hearing reports of lots of striper hookups on the Sacramento River in the Verona area.

And there's a good bite at Lake Berryessa. RodMobbers John and Jonathon Polites reported jumbo minnows were the ticket today for landing one salmon, one brown, and two rainbows.

The bite's still happenin' at Berryessa!

Got an update to add? Drop us a line at fishon@rodmob.com or leave a message on the RodMob hotline (1-855-RODMOB-1). The 'Mob wants to hear your reports!
